Self Development Academy (SDA) is successful in part because parents take an active role in their children’s education. Parental involvement at SDA can occur in the following ways:
Volunteering: Parent volunteers are always welcome at SDA. There are many opportunities to participate, from the classroom, to the playground, to the cafeteria. Because we take our students' safety seriously, all volunteers must obtain a fingerprint clearance card. Please contact us for more information.
Parent Advisory Committee: The SDA Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) is made up of a group of parents who facilitate fundraising efforts at SDA. The PAC meets the third Tuesday of every month at 6:00 pm. The PAC meets at Self Development Preschool.
The committee is constituted by a chairperson, vice-chairperson, treasurer, secretary, and a fundraiser coordinator. Elected representatives can be added to the committee as needed. All parents of SDA students are eligible for election to the PAC. The PAC invites and encourages all parents to attend monthly meetings. If you are interested in becoming involved with the PAC, please contact the school. Click here for more information.
Arizona Tax Credit: Parents and community members may donate their Arizona Tax Credit to SDA. Arizona tax credit is a dollar-for-dollar reduction in the actual tax liability. Arizona residents may donate $200.00 for those filing as individuals, and $400.00 for those filing as married. For example, if you owed $1,000 in state income tax, and if you donate $400 to SDA, then you are only liable to pay $600 in taxes to the state.
All tax credit dollars go directly for the students’ extra-curricular activities including the violin program, field trips, after school clubs, and sports activities. You may donate in full or in installments. Please contact us for more information. To download a copy of the donation form, click here.
