Self Development Preparatory School: The school of my choice
By: Amber C., 7th Grade
School: People have various opinions on whether or not it is important, but the fact is that many people do not succeed without an education. At Self Development Charter School (SDCS), it is an easy walk to get from learning the basics to learning above and beyond the average. We have many appealing aspects that bring everything to a T. From the achievements we receive, to the persistence and one-of-a-kind character each individual possesses, it all leads up to a prospering academic education.
Many schools have their share of achievement and goals, but none are like SDCS. SDCS has not a few, but a list of accomplishments and standards for the future. To kick off, we have some of the highest AIMS scores in Arizona. To top that, we are in the top one percent of schools. Also, we have an excelling education; most students are learning one year ahead. For the future, we hope to further explore our range in learning, but to do so one must first show persistence and character.
Here at SDCS, we have a wide scale of amazing teachers, students, and of course our principal, Mrs. Majeed. The seventh and eighth grade teachers are Mrs. Cote and Ms. Waitz. They always teach for understanding instead of knowledge. By this, I mean that they teach us until it is stuck into the core of our mind, instead of just teaching and then moving on. The students here at SDCS are also exceptionally unique. They are all different but treat each other with the same kindness. Last, but not least, Mrs. Majeed, I could go on and on, fill up notebooks, and talk all night about how incredible she is. Mrs. Majeed is the principal of the school, but she is also an inspiration. With all of this we have the ability to receive an excellent academic education.
A wise person once said, "You must learn to have understanding, but to first learn you must have the capability of moving forward." At SDCS we have many classes that one can partake in. There are the mandatory classes, geography, math, literature, grammar, etc., but school can be exciting too! By this, I mean our extracurricular activities which include dance club, sports club, and much, much more! Once a month we have a Spirit Day, where you dress up to the theme that is selected. It is a fun and exciting way to show what it means to be a student at SDCS.
I am sure that between the achievements, the character of each individual, and the academics, you will find yourself right at home.
To learn is to live, but to live is to have learned.
