| Self Development Charter School (SDCS) is successful in part because parents take an active role in their children’s education. Parental involvement at SDCS can occur in the following ways: Volunteering: Parent volunteers are always welcome at SDCS. There are many opportunities to participate, from the classroom to the playground to the cafeteria. Because we take our students' safety seriously, all volunteers must obtain a fingerprint clearance card. Please contact us for more information. Parent Advisory Committee: The Self Development Parent Organization elects a Parent Advisory Committee to provide insight and advice on matters of policy and general concern to the SDCS Board of Directors. The PAC also sponsors both ongoing and annual fund raising activities. The committee is constituted by a chairperson, vice-chairperson, treasurer, secretary, and a fund raiser coordinator. Elected representatives can be added to the committee as needed. All parents of SDCS students are eligible for election to the PAC. The PAC invites and encourages all parents to attend monthly meetings. Arizona Tax Credit: Parents and community members may donate their Arizona Tax Credit to SDCS. Arizona tax credit is a dollar-for dollar reduction in the actual tax liability. For example, if you owed $1,000 in state income tax, and if you give Self Development Charter School $400, then you are only liable to pay $600 in taxes to the state. All tax credit dollars go directly for the students’ extra-curricular activities including the violin program, field trips, computers, and sports activities. You may donate in full or in installments. Please contact us for more information. |
